To wrap up the second week of instruction, Roberto took us on a field trip to the Exploratorium in San Francisco. The bus ride started at 9 AM and was extremely uneventful. No one had the energy to talk and instead spent the time on their phones or sleeping.

We arrived at the Exploratorium at around 11:30 and had a quick lunch that consisted of a mediocre sandwich, a bag of chips, and a cookie. Then, we finally entered the Exploratorium. We only had a couple hours to spend inside the museum, so I unfortunately couldn’t explore that much of the facility, but the section that I did manage to see had a lot of optical gimmicks, and even some material-science-related displays. For example, one display had a wheel filled with water and oil that you could spin, but no matter how fast you spun the wheel, the two liquids wouldn’t mix because of the oil’s hydrophobic properties.

After our time in the museum was up, we spent the remaining hour that we had in the city walking to Pier 39 and exploring the area. It was nice to enjoy the seaside breeze and finally experience temperate weather for the first time in two weeks, and my mom and sister even met up with me there and delivered me a drink!
